Virtual Local Telephone Numbers

Similar to a virtual toll-free number, a Virtual Local Phone Number, is a telephone number programmed to be forwarded to another (non-virtual) telephone number. This number may be your land-line, a Voice over IP (VoIP) service, or a PBX or a virtual PBX system presenting your callers with a menu of options to choose from. An advantage over the toll-free virtual services is the fact that the virtual phone numbers will also work outside of the US and Canada, including counties where toll-free numbers are hard to setup or simply non-existent.

As with the virtual toll-free number the idea is to provide your customers with an easy and cost-effective way of contacting your company. While the virtual local numbers may not eliminate the costs completely for the customers (certain countries don't have flat local monthly calling rates so customers would still be responsible for the cost of one local call, each time they call your virtual local number), they do provide another very important advantage over toll-free numbers, and that is - they are "local", giving the impression that your company is located in the same are as your callers which inspires more trust in your potential customers.
